You don't have to prove yourself
Mini message moment‼️
Personal moment: I used to always feel like I had to prove myself. I had to prove I was smart even though I made poor choices in life. I had to buy out Macy’s to prove I wasn’t struggling. I had to prove I wasn’t going to be another statistic. I thought maybe if I proved myself I’d feel valued and appreciated. I became obsessed with wanting to prove myself to others instead of doing it for me.
Lesson learned/message to others: There is nothing wrong with aiming for the sky but make sure it’s genuinely for you. You must learn to validate yourself. Trying to always seek the approval of others will leave you feeling empty. You will get burnt out and left unsatisfied. The older we get the more we should be less concerned with the idea of trying to “one up somebody”. Be the best version of you! You only got one life to live! When your identity is in Christ, you don’t have to live life being competitive and trying to always prove others wrong; Desperately figuring out whether people are applauding or opposing. When you possess a God given purpose you’re solely focused on getting the approval of the Father. Live life abundantly, striving for perfection and helping others along the way.
Scriptures:
For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
Matthew 25:29
Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
Luke 12:15
For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
2 Corinthians 10:18
